Eligible Officers

Our 2026 Fall Convention is just a few months away, and so it is time to consider the elections for our new ALOA officers and directors.

Three directors will rotate off the ALOA Board this year:

• Spencer Boozer, O.D., representing the North Region
• Laura Osmer, O.D., representing the South Region
• Sierra Perry, O.D., filling the One-Year Member-at-Large term.

The North and South Regions are therefore eligible to nominate a member to the Board of Directors for a three-year term.
The zones are grouped into regions as follows:

• North Region: North Alabama, North West, and North East Zones
• Central Region: Birmingham Area and West Central Zones
• South Region: East Central, South Central, South East, and Gulf Zones

Any member, as well as each local society of the North Alabama, North West, North East, East Central, South Central, South East and Gulf Zones, can nominate a member for a three-year position. All zones are encouraged to submit a member for the one-year at-large position.

All zones can nominate members for the following officer positions: Secretary-Treasurer, Vice-President, and President-Elect.

ELIGIBILITY INFORMATION & GUIDELINES

1. The Board of Directors shall include the President, President-Elect, Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer, and Immediate Past President, six representative(s) of the local societies determined by the Association and one state-at-large member.
2. All nominees for director positions shall have been an active or educator class member of this Association for three consecutive years.
3. The term for directors shall be one year for the state-at-large position and three years for representatives of local societies unless a director is elected to an officer position. Directors shall not succeed themselves; except a director who has been appointed to an unexpired term and who has served no more than two years of the unexpired term may be elected to succeed themselves for one full term.
4. All nominees for officer positions shall have been an active or educator class member of this Association for three consecutive years and shall have served for one year on the current or prior Board of Directors.
5. All nominations MUST BE SUBMITTED BY AUGUST 14, 2026, in order to be considered for the elections at the 2026 Fall Convention.
6. The decision of the Nomination Committee is final.
